Powered by a 67Mhz ARM9 and a 33Mhz ARM7, the Nintendo DS was first available on the 21st of November 2004. The revolutionary handheld console had two screens (one being a touch screen), microphone and wireless networking and a relatively cheap price. This lead the DS to over 64 million sales, more than three times the amount of the Playstation Portable. Cartridges also made a comeback, in the form of 'Game Cards'.

If you've been following Japan's DSi release and were hoping for to purchase one for Christmas, well you better fire up eBay because you're not getting one over the counter in Australia this year.

Some news that's currently doing the rounds on the interwibble is that the next E3 (July 15 to 17) may see the launch of a new DS unit.
