Review: Progress Quest 6.2 - 24/04/2008 by Andrew RPG This is a bizarre one folks. You see, Progress Quest isn't really a game, as you don't really play Progress Quest – you merely let Progress Quest play itself. Confused? Join the club, we don't have t-shirts as yet. The idea of Progress Quest is to have an RPG play itself, while you watch the 'VB6' style application that shows nothing but a handful of windows and four progress bars. Thrilling? Why oh why didn't they do this earlier I hear you ask? Imagine AD&D games from a long time ago, minus the graphics and a generous helping of class A drugs. Even though this sounds ridiculous (and it is), I found myself leaving it on as I want my character to level up. This is, strangely enough, addictive in is own right. There's a buzzing community forum and you can even join guilds and trade equipment. The good news is this addiction shouldn't last long. There's a few annoyances – running under Ubuntu 8.04 (64bit) it doesn't show up in the task bar when it's running, you can run multiple games at once (creating your own army if you will) and it's impossible to tea bag enemies. The fact that it's not really a game leads me to wonder why I bothered reviewing it, though at least now you know what you're in for if you download it. 5/100
