Review: Tuxpuck 0.8.2 - 29/09/2008 by Andrew Sports Tuxpuck has been around since 2002 though their website's last update was 2006, showing that this game isn't currently being maintained. That's not a huge drama though as it is complete enough that you can play the game against the computer but useful configuration features such as resolution, difficulty and sound are missing. In fact, the menu only gives you the option of playing a game against either Tux, Arcana or quiting the game. The graphics are quite good, normally you wouldn't expect too much from a discontinued project. There's basic 'air hockey' sounds with smashing glass when someone scores and cheers/boos when you play Tux (when you play Arcana the crowd keeps quiet). Gameplay wise, it's not an easy game. Playing against Tux is suicide (in the air hockey sense) as it's extremely difficult to get a shot past him. Playing Arcana is easier, though it's still a difficult game. She also has a special serve where the puck spins in a circle and the launches to either your left of right corner. To sum up, this game isn't complete and really needs to be picked up by another developer(s) to at least add a two player mode (over networking would be great), difficulty setting and more computer controlled characters with different traits. Fun game, for about 10 minutes.
