My PC setup - balance between work and play - 05/10/2008 by Andrew
At the centre of of it all is my ViewSonic 22" LCD doing the grey to white to grew dance at 5ms, an ATEN DVI/USB/Audio 4 port KVM with a simple Logitech 2.1 setup. Now onto the PC's:
Far left: My main gaming rig; Ubuntu 8.04 64bit, AMD 4800+ (Dual core 2.5Ghz), 65w, 2GB Corsair DDR2-667, 2x500GB Samsungs running in Linux software RAID0, Gigabyte 7900GS (factory overclocked).
Second of the left: My server; Ubuntu 8.04 64bit, AMD 4000+ (Dual core 2.1Ghz), 65w, 512MB Corsair DDR2-667, 4x500GB Samsungs running in Linux software RAID5, on-board graphics.
Third on the left: My test rig; AMD 3200 (Single core 2Ghz), 1GB Geil DDR400, 40GB Seagate PATA100, Gigabyte 6600GT 256MB AGP 8x.
Far Right: My Vista SP1 box - Oh the pain. It's just a Semperon 3800+ with 4GB Corsair DDR2-667, 80GB Seagate, Gigabyte 8400GS graphics. This isn't for gaming.
EeePC: Well, it's an EeePC 701, upgraded to 2GB of RAM and running Ubuntu 8.04.1. Overclocked to 900Mhz as well, though it ran OpenArena better with eeeXubuntu 7.10 at the standard 630Mhz.
Above: 5 bottles of booze with bar style dispensers for when those gaming sessions get serious. Notice how the rum (Australia's very own Bundaberg Rum) is nearly empty - definitely my drink of choice at the moment.
