Ubuntu 8.10 'Intrepid Ibex' has been released - 31/10/2008 by Andrew Ubuntu, arguably the most popular Linux distribution, has just released their latest version for the masses to consume. Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Ubuntu Studio also released at the same time. Expect the re-spinned Ubuntu distros (Mint etc) to release their version asap. While Ubuntu is loved by many Linux users, it's also disliked by a growing number of Linux hardcore for various reasons though you can't deny the huge growth that Ubuntu has had since 2004 and I'm sure a huge percentage of Windows converts made an easier transition to Linux because of it. Anyway, no much has changed since my reviews of the alphas (see Alpha 2 and Alpha 4 reviews); Kernel 2.6.27, Gnome 2.24, X.Org 7.4 as well as a host of other updates to your favourite games and applications. Check out the release overview here.
